Panagia Goumera Today
The Holy Monastery of Panagia Goumeras, which belongs to the Holy Metropolis of Sidirokastro, has been built in the village of Makrinitsa in the municipality of Sintiki in the prefecture of Serres since 1971.
Today, after the reconstruction of the Monastery since 2017, the first cells of the fathers, the church of Saint Paisios and Saint Porphyrios, the synodical, kitchen and bank of the monastery, earthworks around the holy monastery, and landscaped courtyard have been rebuilt.
Icon of Panagia Goumera
You say that the icon of the Nativity that was in the shrine of the church in Pontus was found in the hands of a farmer and was later bought in Greece by the Pontian brotherhood of Kallithea. It is celebrated on September 8, the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.
